Flew home for 40 hours of fourth of July Family Reunion. While Straub Dark is probably the coolest PA beer, what with the pre-prohibition independent rural north-central status, I still kept going back to the Prima Pils. Straub Dark has a whisper of dark malt character and some sweetness, but it just can't get over that all too simple, American lager tang. And corn. But that's what makes it cool I guess. And the word on the street in Wilcox is that they're canning now. Which only makes it cooler. I can't imagine a Straub bock is too far away. A similar brand is stuggling here in Indiana, Champagne Velvet.
